⚓ Bela — Finnsailer 34

The Finnish sailboat that has it all: character, comfort and technology.

🌊 First impression — A boat that turns heads

There are boats, and then there's Bela. A Finnsailer 34 built in Finland with the precision and craftsmanship that define Nordic shipyards. The moment you see her at the dock, she communicates exactly what she is: solid, elegant, and with that warmth only well-worked wood can give.

Her 9.95-metre LOA gives her an imposing yet manageable presence, and her lines — designed by naval architect Hans Groop — are the perfect balance of speed, stability and character.

The hull is hand-laminated fibreglass, a technique that delivers far superior strength compared to production builds. Her lead fin keel — denser and more effective than conventional iron — provides formidable stability. This boat does not heel easily. She inspires confidence from the very first moment, whether you're a student on your first practice sail or an experienced mariner.

The self-draining central cockpit is generous and comfortable for the whole crew. With an Edson steering column — a benchmark in quality sailing — and a folding cockpit table, it's the spot where you command the navigation with full control. There's room for everyone, and nobody gets in anyone's way. From here, the views are unbeatable: the open horizon, the bow cutting through the blue Mediterranean water.

📐 Design and Pedigree — Lines of a classic

Hans Groop's design for the Finnsailer 34 is a landmark in Nordic naval architecture. Her layout makes use of every centimetre to deliver a liveability that belies her length, while always maintaining noble behaviour in any sea state. Here you can see the technical profile and interior arrangement that make this boat a jewel of nautical engineering.

🪵 Below deck — Where luxury means warmth

Step below and the first thing you notice says it all: mahogany everywhere. Warm, alive, with that unmistakable scent of a well-cared-for boat. Bela is not a plastic sailboat with four fold-down seats. It is a lived-in space, designed so that life aboard is a pleasure.

The saloon surprises with its size and brightness, thanks to its long aluminium-framed windows. Upholstered settees on both sides invite you to relax between manoeuvres, and the central table is perfect for chart work, sharing a meal, or simply enjoying the passage. The mahogany lining on walls, sole and overhead is not merely decorative — it is the hallmark of a high-end Nordic build, moisture-resistant and beautiful.

The galley — to port — is spacious and practically laid out. Cooker, fridge, hot water… everything you need to prepare a good lunch between anchorages.

There are three cabins with a total of 6 to 7 berths depending on configuration. The forward V-berth is ideal for two. The aft cabin offers additional privacy with its own washbasin. And the saloon can accommodate up to three more when it's time to rest. Everything meticulously maintained, everything ready so you can sleep aboard to the sound of the sea rocking you gently.

The central heads is compact but very well resolved: washbasin, shower, WC and hot water. Because adventure doesn't have to mean giving up the basics.

📡 Electronics — The latest technology

Bela combines the pedigree of a classic with the safety and precision of modern technology. The nav station, located to starboard next to the companionway, centralises all electronics in a well-organised and accessible space.

Autopilot, GPS with digital charts, fixed VHF, and a full suite of wind, speed and depth instruments: everything is up to date and ready to go. No obsolete equipment. Bela's electronics are continuously reviewed and renewed so you always navigate with the best tools at hand.

The inboard diesel engine starts first time and delivers all the power needed for harbour manoeuvres or motoring on windless days. A 200-litre fuel tank for long passages, and a fresh water system with 150 litres capacity.

Safety is non-negotiable on board: full equipment, approved signalling gear and all systems in perfect survey condition. We go to sea to enjoy it, and that starts with being properly prepared.
