Your boat, your best classroom

No two boats are alike. You'll learn more in 3 hours aboard your own vessel than in 10 hours on an unfamiliar charter boat. Ricard travels to your marina and tailors each session to your level, your boat type and exactly what you want to improve.

Boat Handling Under Engine

  • Propeller effect and pivot point — how to use them in your favor.
  • Bow-in docking, stern-to, side-tie and tight-space maneuvering.
  • Anchoring: choosing the spot, approach, setting and retrieval.
  • Correct use of boat hook, springs and dock lines.

Coastal Navigation

  • Your boat's instruments: VHF, GPS, log, depth sounder.
  • Route planning and waypoint management.
  • Chart reading and buoyage recognition.
  • Practical weather briefing before departure.

Sail Handling & Trim

  • Efficient hoisting and lowering of mainsail and genoa.
  • Close-hauled, reaching and downwind: trim for each point of sail.
  • Tacking and gybing safely.
  • Reefing and sailing in stronger winds.
