Sailing Team Building for Companies
On a sailboat there are no spectators: the whole team takes part, coordinates and learns to sail together.
Why a sailboat works better than a meeting room
On board, someone steers, someone trims the sail and someone calls the manoeuvre. If one person slips, it shows immediately; if everyone fits together, the boat moves. It is the best metaphor for a team, and it happens in real time, not in a slide deck.
Ricard Prehn, a skipper and instructor with over 27 years of teaching people to sail, guides the group step by step. No previous experience is needed: the point is for the team to learn by doing, together.
What the team works on without noticing
Clear communication
Orders on board are short and precise. If they aren't understood, the manoeuvre goes wrong.
Roles and trust
Everyone takes a role and depends on the others to keep the boat moving.
Real-time decisions
Wind and sea don't wait: the team learns to decide and adjust as it goes.
A real break
Away from the office and the phone, conversations change and colleagues get to know each other differently.
How we set it up
- 1
Briefing and roles
Ricard explains the boat, safety and basic duties. Everyone takes a role.
- 2
Hoisting and trimming the sails
The whole team takes part in the manoeuvres, coordinating by voice.
- 3
Taking turns at the helm
Everyone steers for a while, following directions from the rest of the crew.
- 4
Final manoeuvre and debrief
We finish with a joint manoeuvre and a look back: what worked and what you would do differently.
This is a suggested plan for the day; we adapt it to your team's goal.
Price and format
The price is for the whole boat, not per person.
Up to 11 people. Tailor-made quote and invoice issued to your company. Photography and drone optional (€350 / 1.5h each).
What people who have sailed with Ricard say

"Fui con Ricart, el patrón del velero, y resultó mejor de lo esperado. Puedes hacer de todo: llevar el timón, arriar velas, amarrar... Es de diez."
