The sea doesn’t wait, and red tape shouldn’t hold you back either. Keeping your boating licence valid is as crucial as checking your sails before setting off. At Altair we make the complicated simple, so all you have to think about is setting your course.
When do I need to renew my licence?
Spanish recreational boating licences (Navigation Licence, PNB, PER) come with a card valid for 10 years, or 5 years from age 70 (RD 875/2014, article 26). Sailing with an expired licence not only exposes you to severe administrative penalties, it could also invalidate your insurance if there is an incident.
Attention, Skipper!
Apply for renewal before it expires: without a valid card you cannot skipper the boat. To renew on expiry you need a medical fitness report.
The simplified renewal process
Forget queues and endless forms. We take care of everything. All you need is:
- Medical certificate: issued at a driver medical assessment centre (CRC), specifically for boating.
- ID card or passport: valid.
- Your current licence: (or a copy of it).
- Administrative fees: we handle the payment and the submission.
Lost your licence?
Don’t panic. As well as renewals, we handle duplicates for lost or damaged cards. Getting your licence back is quicker than you think.
