At Escuela Náutica Altair we believe in full transparency. Although we offer a paperwork service so you don’t have to worry about anything, we know many students prefer to do these formalities themselves to save the handling fee.
If you have a digital certificate (IDCAT, Cl@ve or Spanish electronic ID), handling your exam and licence is a fairly simple process you can do from home. Here we explain how.
Which formalities can you do yourself?
There are basically two key moments when the Generalitat charges fees:
- Registering for the theory exam: you must pay the exam fee to be able to sit the official exam session.
- Issuing the licence / card: once you have passed the exam and completed the practical sessions, you pay for the physical or digital card to be issued.
Official Generalitat fees (current)
- Examen PNB: 65,40 €
- Examen PER: 76,70 €
- Issuing the licence (PER or PNB): 65,40 €

Step 1: registering for the exam
To register, you must go to the Generalitat’s e-government site while the exam session is open for registration:
- Go to the Generalitat’s official website.
- Choose the licence you are sitting (PNB or PER).
- Log in with your digital certificate.
- Fill in your details and pay the exam fee online.
Step 2: issuing the licence
Once you have passed the exam and we have signed your Certificate of Practical Training:
- You will need an original nautical medical certificate (issued within the last 90 days).
- Go to the licence issue / exam procedure.
- Upload the scanned documents (ID, medical certificate).
- Pay the issue fee.
What if I don’t have a digital certificate? 🔐
If you don’t have an electronic signature, the process is more involved, as it means going in person to the offices of the Department of Climate Action, Food and Rural Agenda. In that case, our paperwork service is usually the better-value option because of the time and travel it saves.
